Palm kernel oil (extracted
from fruit seeds of oil palm tree) and palm oil (extracted from palm
fruit) are the two products obtained from palm tree. Crude palm oil
production,
CPO, is used to make biodiesel.
BIODIESEL FROM VEGETABLE
OIL
Biodiesel should sobstitute
diesel as it is a more clean fuel.
The mayor plantations which
produce palm oil are in Malaysia and Indonesia but palm oil trees
are also planted in many other countries between equator and the 8th
parallel. The production is increasing in these years as result of
the huge demand from European countries to make biodiesel.
OTHER ALTERNATIVE ENERGY
RESOURCES
Vegetable fats and oils can be
obtained from sunflower, peanut, canola, safflower etc. All
vegetable oils can be used to make biodiesel. But their content of
fats and acidity is different. The palm oil is the most rich in fats
and this make it the more efficient and almost the most used for
biodiesel. Food uses make soybean oil the most used in absolute.
